This was captured at off-peak hour with an ultra-wide angle lens that produced this perspective view of the departure hall. Because of the brighter exterior at the back of the hall, the camera was fooled into darkening the whole image. This called for highlights and mid-tones to be pushed up in post in order to illuminate the interior more adequately.

This was captured with an iphone in raw, a rarity in smartphone land. Sarah is one of this rare breed of iphone photographer.

In raw conversion, ‘vibrance’ was pushed up to further saturate the blue sky and in post, yellows and greens were toned down and contrast tweaked with a bit of small radius ‘unsharp mask’ sharpening.

Atop The Duomo

To get this view, Sarah had climbed up something like hundreds of steps until her legs went jelly. A lift was actually available but you would need to pay a little more. It was a Tuesday and the place appeared to be crowded.

Here, Sarah had managed to keep the Duomo facade verticals and nearby buildings straight by keeping her phone level and not tilted downward nor upward.
