A Little Foretaste

This was taken from across the lake just less than five minutes before the sky opened up. Fortunately before that, the lady had made the decision to get off the boardwalk and headed towards the Supertree Grove and cover.

This was captured with the exposure biased 1-1/3 stops darker to keep highlights. Highlights were further tamed and mid-tones were pulled back a little in post. Contrast and sharpening were also sparingly applied to avoid muddying up small details of the folks’ facial expressions.

Was preparing to photograph the stall when these folks had unexpectedly walked into the frame. Anyway, I couldn’t be happier to have them in the image and, thankfully, their postures couldn’t be better than what I would’ve asked for. This small latter detail could apparently sometimes make or break the image. It’s the reason I usually like to shoot short burst when it involves moving folks in street photography.

This was captured with the exposure biased darker by 2/3 stop to preserve highlights. Shadows were then brightened up in post with the background colours toned down and darkened a bit.

This was captured from across the lake at the equivalent focal length of about 300mm. It wasn’t cropped in further as I had wanted to include the subjects’ environment.
