Leo Outside The Window

This was captured when the sun was momentarily behind clouds with the exposure biased 1-2/3 stops darker. It might’ve otherwise looked a little too harsh without the cloud cover.

This was captured at wide-open aperture with 1-1/3 stops of underexposure. Other distracting flora in the background were then ‘burned’ away in post.

This was taken in diffused light. Colours were left as captured. The backdrop at the upper part of the image was darkened and toned down a little in post.

A Leo Hybrid

This tulip probably couldn’t decide whether it wanted to be a red or Golden Leo, and so came out appearing this way among its Golden Leo fellows. A stop of underexposure had darkened away the surrounding foliage. This has been one of the ways we use to help with subject isolation with small sensor cameras.

The greater depth-of-field afforded by the smaller sensor helped keep more of the blooms in focus at the aperture of f/5 even when photographing in close proximity.

Surrounded By Strong Love

We had diffused lighting for this one, thanks to a cloudy day. The tulips became more saturated as the dark and mid-tones were darkened in post, but this was left alone as it kind of projected the impression of strong love.

This was captured at the equivalent focal length of 110mm to compress the tulips together. The image could’ve looked flat but the narrower depth-of-field of the full-frame sensor helped render some depth. The inclusion of nearer out-of-focus flowers could’ve also helped.
